Adventures in 35mm Film Photography for Weddings

In 2023 we were asked by a couple if we could shoot some 35mm film along with the usual digital photography for their wedding. Kevin was excited for this challenge and purchased a Canon EOS 3 camera just like he used in the 1990s when he was starting his career as a photographer. It has been a blast to rediscover film and our clients have been as excited as we are about the results.

Not every photographer is skilled at shooting with film. Using a digital camera, a photographer can take multiple photos of the same shot, correcting as they go and use software to create the perfect image. With a film camera, the artist is trusting their skills to capture the moment. The result is rich color, subtle grain and relying on the artist’s eye to capture the perfect moment. The unique aesthetic created with this medium is exclusive to the luxury of 35mm film.

We are offering limited film coverage that includes select daytime photos from the wedding ceremony and couples portraits. We try hard to have quick turnaround (under 3 weeks) on all of our weddings however, these take up to an extra week to be developed and scanned. The film photos are delivered in your online gallery digitally. As with all of our galleries you may order professional prints and albums. We have a printed film portfolio we can show you in person if you see us at a show or schedule a meeting with us in person. We would love to help you add an artistic retro twist with analog film photos to your upcoming wedding package.
